Fresh, local, unprocessed, fun, vibrant, delicious, and deeply nourishing are principles at the core of our philosophy at Live! Juice Bar, and we take them seriously.
Every. Single. Thing. we make for you is from scratch, with whole, fresh and primarily local ingredients, because it matters what you put in your body. The less messed with, and closer to its original form your food is, the more you'll get out of it, the healthier you'll be, and the better you will feel.
And also, fresh ingredients are bomb! Fresh, crisp, juicy fresh from the vine, limb, earth are when your ingredients are most beautiful and flavourful.
100% FRESH. LOCAL
Means all our ingredients are... well, fresh. Never from the frozen foods section, never preserved with unpronounceable ingredients. And we take equal care with our dried ingredients, we don't want it if it's got added colours, stabilizers, binders, fillers, this and that and blah blah, so we're not gonna give it to you either. And that's exactly why we dry and grind our own flours and spices, dry our own fruit, and make our own sauces, natural sweeteners, plant milks, down to grinding our own salt (because -anti-caking agents!)
And everything we do is to order, so what you get it as fresh as is possible. Your juice, soup, meal did not exist before you asked for it, and our pantry items are made in small batches.
Our commitment to fresh, is also why we're committed to *local, as you can imagine, the shorter the distance something has to travel, the quicker it can arrive on your plate. There is also science around why the foods that are endemic to your region are optimized by nature to meet your nutritional needs. And also, economics. We believe in keeping our money local, it supports the people we share this home with, and a healthier economy is always a better economy for all of us.
*Sadly, not all basic ingredients are available locally grown. Sometimes our onions, always our garlic, some of our peas and beans, some nuts and seeds, and some spices are not. Otherwise, its local to di bulk a wi ting!
UNPROCESSED
is a word we use around here a LOT. Cause it's a BIG, BIG, BIG deal to us, and when we say it, what we mean is: It's in, or adjacent to its whole, natural form. And any "processing" it goes through happens in our kitchen, and is simple - cooking, drying, grinding. Examples of "processed" products we do purchase are cold pressed oils, and even with those occasionally, we make our own.
Our approach is this extreme because it's shocking how many additives find their way into the most basic processes. And studies show over and again how these additives disrupt the normal, healthy function of our bodies.
It's an arduous and labour intensive commitment, and it imposes limits on our ingredients, but the upshot is a guarantee that you can order from us without a second thought.
